예술교육에서의 예술과 도덕의 관계에 대한 미학적 탐구

동서양을 막론하고 미와 선이 하나라는 관점은 지속적으로 이어져 왔다. 서양의 경우 플라톤, 아리스토텔레스 등 고대철학자들의 예술론에서 보여 지듯이 ‘칼로카가티아(Calokagatia)’ 라는 인간상은 선을 행하는 것이 곧 아름다운 행위라고 간주되는 것이며, 18세기 말 쉴러의 ‘아름다운 혼’ 의 개념에서도 미와 선은 합일되는 관점을 유지하고 있다. 동양의 경우에도 이는 마찬가지이다. 유가사상의 경우 음악은 예(禮)를 갖추는 도구이며 예를 갖춘 인간은 자연히 덕을 행하게 된다. 예술을 통한 교육이 선을 행하는 인간상을 지향한다고 볼 때 예술교육이론은 미학과 윤리학의 학제간 연구를 통해 이루어져야 한다고 본다. 이 글에서는 듀이와 도이치의 미학이론을 중심으로 예술교육에서의 예술과 도덕의 관계에 대해 고찰해보고자 한다.

An Aesthetic Exploration on the Relation of Art and Morality in Art Education: Focused on Dewey and DeutschHuh, Jeong-Im(Busan National University of Education) The way of thinking that beauty and goodness are one has been lasted throughout the East and the West. In the West, as shown in the man called ‘Calokagatia,’ aesthetics of ancient philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle consider that good action is as same as beautiful action. This idea also can be found in Shiller’s concept of ’Beautiful spirit’. The same may be said of the East. Confucianism explains that music is an instrument for practicing courtesy and the man armed with courtesy is tend to perform a good behavior.Considering that art education is aimed at a man practicing goodness, Art education theory should be developed through interdisciplinary study between aesthetics and ethics. In this thesis, we will discuss the relation between art and morality focused on the aesthetic theory of J. Dewey and E. Deutsch. Teaching is not only intellectual but also ethical work. If it is to be done well, It requires the full attention of thoughtful and caring people. In other words, teachers should pay attention to their attitude-wide awake, inquiring, critical-when they treat their students.
