현대미술에서 현대도자의 이해와 교육적 가치 제고

Understanding and uplifting educational value of modern ceramics in modern art

현대도자는 도구적·기능적 성격에서 벗어나 점토의 근원적 속성을 탐구하는 예술로서 조형과 관념의 가치를 추구하고 있다. 이러한 과정에서 현대도자는 총체예술적 지향성과 혼합 매체성 등 현대미술의 흐름에 부합하는 조형적 특성을 나타내고 있다. 이러한 조형적 특성에 근거하여 본 연구의 목적은 현대미술의 개념 확장에 따른 미술교육의 일환으로 현대도자의 교육적 가치를 밝혀, 현대도자 교육이 현대미술의 특성과 흐름을 이해할 수 있는 하나의 접근 방식임을 제시하고자 하였다. 그 결과 연구자는 현대도자의 확장된 의미가 포괄해 나갈 수 있는 교육적 가치를 다음과 같은 측면에서 제시하였다. 첫째, 통합적 측면이다. 현대도자는 현대미술의 이해·감상·표현활동을 연계하는 통합적인 미술교육이다. 둘째, 사고적 측면이다. 현대도자는 발상과 기법·주제와 매체의 다양함으로 표현의 정체성에서 벗어나 실험적 사고를 기른다. 셋째, 방법적 측면이다. 현대도자는 유희적·즉흥적 접근으로서 창작 욕구를 자극하여 적극적인 표현활동을 유도한다. 넷째, 시각적 측면이다. 현대도자는 생동적 체험 활동으로 시각적 사고(visual thinking)를 발달시킨다. 다섯째, 감성적 측면이다. 현대도자는 내면적인 동요를 자유롭게 발산할 수 있는 감성 교육이다.

Modern ceramics is pursuing the value of modeling and the notion of an art that studies the basic feature of the clay escaping from the instrumental and functional features. In this process, modern ceramics shows the modeling factor which fits in with the feature of modern art such as the general artistic intention and the mixed media. Based on these modeling aspects, this study intends to show that modern ceramics education is a way to access and understand the feature and stream of modern art by revealing the educational value of modern ceramics as a part of art education according to the conceptual expansion of modern art. For this, the notion of modern ceramics, the background of modern ceramics and the modeling of modern ceramics were observed. As a result, the researcher suggested the educational value that the expanded meaning of modern ceramics can embrace as the following. First, it is the general side. Modern ceramics helps the understanding, impression and expression of modern art in general. Second, it is the side of thought. Modern ceramics expands experimental thought with ideas, themes, medias and the diversity of skills. Third, it is the side of the method. Modern ceramics leads active expression activities with the playful and improvised access to clay. Fourth, it is the side of the vision. Modern ceramics develops visual thinking with the modeling activity through rich experiences and studies. Fifth, it is the side of the emotion. Modern ceramics expect an educational effect of exposing students to perceptual experiences inherent in clay.
