The purpose of this study, as part of culture education, is to establish the position of visual culture, prescribed as cultural aspects in this post-modern period of diversity and relativity, and illuminate the directions of visual culture education in the future by asserting the meanings and necessities of visual culture education. As the detailed alternatives of visual culture education, it also discusses the necessity of moving image education, based on its understanding as a representative visual culture aspect these days. The concept of visual culture, approached in this study, is a visual culture of every day life that would differentiate from a typical concept of art such as paintings and sculptures. Though the impacts of moving image are huge as a visual culture, having a root of mass-media of daily life, it tends to be underestimated in the institutional system of education. Considering the great influences of moving image on a modern society, it is a must to understand moving image itself and take an educational step in systematic ways. On the basis of these needs, it constitutes the following contents: First of all, it describes the understandings of visual culture education as a means of culture education. This study presents the relations between visual culture and post-modern society, the approach towards visual education and the advantages of it, including the meanings of visual literacy in a visual culture education. It shows the necessity of moving image education as a visual culture education in the following chapters, examining the concept of moving images and the changes of moving image in accordance with emergence of newly invented media such as computer and the Net. And this investigates a visual-perceptive feature and a principle of construction, differing from typical paintings or pictures. Eventually, this would be driven to stress the necessity of moving image education, the core of current visual culture, along with the fundamental understanding of moving image.
