The Development and Tasks of Political Education

정치교육은 근본적으로 가치배분(또는 배제)의 문제를 다루기 때문에 관련 이해당사자의 이념적 스펙트럼과 정치철학적 관점에 따라 지속적인 논쟁과 뜨거운 쟁점의 대상이 될 가능성이 크다. 정치공동체에 대한 상이한 철학적 관점은 민주주의 운영형태, 사회문화 가치체제, 개인과 공동체의 관계, 개인의 존재양식 등에 대한 다양한 세계관을 제시하기 때문이다. 본 논문은 정치교육과 관련된 다양한 쟁점(민주주의와 정치철학의 주요 관점, 정치교육과 시민교육 및 교육정치의 관계)을 확인하면서 정치교육 활성화를 위한 예비적 논의를 제시하고자 한다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 연구주제와 관련된 핵심개념(민주주의, 정치교육)과 유사 동의개념(시민성, 시민교육, 시민참여, 교육정치 등)을 중심으로 국내외 선행연구물과 관련 논문들을 체계적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 민주주의에 대한 다양한 개념 숙지, 상이한 정치철학적 관점에 대한 포괄적 이해, 시민교육과 유사개념의 비교 분석, 시민성의 개념 확인, 시민교육 교수학습 모델 개발의 필요성, 다학문적 시각에서의 정치(시민)교육 연구 등이 정치교육의 발전적 확산을 위한 예비적 아이디어로 확인되었다.

Since political education fundamentally deals with the issue of value distribution (or exclusion), it is highly likely to be the subject of constant debate and issues depending on the ideological spectrum and political philosophy of the related stakeholders. Because the different philosophical perspectives on the political community provide a variety of worldviews on the mode of operation of democracy, the social and cultural value system, and the relationship between the individual and the community. This paper attempted to present a preliminary discussion for revitalizing political education while analysing various issues related to political education(the main viewpoints of democracy and political philosophy, the relationship between political education and citizenship education). In order to achieve this purpose, a systematic analysis of related literature was conducted focusing on the core concepts(eg: democracy, political education) related to the research subject and similar concepts(citizenship education, civic education, civic engagement, educational politics, etc.). Some ideas including familiarity with various concepts of democracy, comprehensive understanding of different political philosophical perspectives, comparative analysis of civic education and similar concepts, critical examination of the concept of citizenship and necessity of developing civic education teaching-learning model were suggested for further research.
