공공 영어도서관 영어장서 구성 현황과 운영에 관한 연구

A Study on the Present Condition and Operation of English Books in Public English Libraries

본 연구는 전국 공공 영어도서관 장서 구성 및 운영 현황을 파악하는데 목적이 있다 연구 방법으로는 면담과 설문지 방법이 사용되었으며, 설문지는 대상 도서관 곳에 배포되어 9부(75%)가 회수되었으며 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 국가도서관 통계시스템에 보고된 공공 영어도서관은 전국에 12곳이 운영 중이다. 2) 영어 장서 구성 현황은 90% 이상 영어 장서를 소장하고 있는 영어도서관이 5곳, 50%이상 소장하고 있는 도서관은 2곳, 50% 미만 영어 장서 소장 도서관이 2곳이다. 3) 사서 조사를 통해 영어 원서 수서방식, 분류 세부기준, 주제별·연령별 장서 구성 현황, 대출권수 등을 조사하였다. 4) 영어도서관 이용자 서비스 관련하여 추천도서 및 북 큐레이션 서비스 제공 현황과 영어원서 관련 독서문화 프로그램 운영 상황을 파악하였다. 5) 영어자료실 수서 전담 사서 직무 전문성과 관련하여 전담 인력 운영 여부, 직무 전문성, 전문 교육이 충분히 제공되는지에 대한 현황을 파악하였다. 이어서 조사결과를 근거로 앞으로 공공 영어도서관 발전 방향에 대한 제안을 제시하였다.

This study is to identify the current state of the English book collection and operation of the national public English libraries. Interviews and questionnaire methods were used, and questionnaires were distributed to 12 target libraries, with nine copies (75%) recalled. The findings are as follows. 1) According to Korean National Library Statistics System, 12 public English libraries are currently in operation. 2) There are five English libraries with 90% English books, two libraries with 50% or more, and two libraries with less than 50% English books. 3) The librarian survey investigated the method of English book selection, detailed criteria for classification by subject and age, and the book lending rates. 4) The current status of the provision of recommended books and book curation services and the operation status of reading programs as the English language library user service were identified. 5) In relation to the professional work of librarians in charge of the English book selections, the operational status of dedicated personnel, job expertise, and professional education were identified. Based on the results of the survey, suggestions were made on the future direction of development of public English libraries.
