농학계 대학생의 농·식품산업 진로선택 요인 분석

An Analysis on Agricultural College Students’ Career Selection in Agri-food Industry

본 연구는 농학계 전공 대학생이 농·식품산업 분야 진로를 희망하는데 영향을 미치는 요인들을 학생 개인수준과 학생이 속한 집단에 해당하는 대학수준에서 파악하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 농림축산식품부와 농림수산식품교육문화정보원(농정원)으로부터 입수한 2015년 농업계 대학생 대상 농업교육 수요자 패널 자료를 활용하여 개인 및 집단수준 요인 모두를 고려할 수 있는 다층로짓모형을 적용한다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 분산 감소비율 통계치를 통해 농학계 대학생의 진로선택 의향에서 개인수준 요인뿐만 아니라 대학수준 요인을 함께 고려하는 것이 필요하다는 것을 파악하였다. 둘째, 개인수준에서 전공에 대한 만족도가 높을수록, 부모님이 영농에 종사할수록, 농·식품산업 종사에 대한 부모님의 견해가 긍정적일수록 농·식품 관련 분야를 더 희망한다는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학수준에서 농업계 대학 등록금이 높을수록, 농・식품산업 분야 대학 특성화사업 및 교육을 수행할수록, 국립대학 유형에 해당할수록 농·식품산업 분야 진로를 더 희망하는 것으로 파악되었다. 이를 통해 농업계 대학은 학생 개인수준에서 농·식품산업 분야에 대한 인식을 긍정적으로 제고할 수 있는 교육 프로그램 및 시스템을 마련하는 한편 대학수준에서 전공・진로 간일치성을 도모하는 재정지원 인프라를 구축할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study is to identify factors affecting on agricultural undergraduate students’ career selection in agri-food industry. For the study, we use a multilevel logistic model considering both individual (student) level and group (college) level. As an empirical data, we use a unique data set titled as Panel Data for Agricultural Education 2015, which is obtained from Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS) and Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA). Results show the followings: first, the estimate of proportion reduction in variance statistics implies that college level factors should be considered in addition to student level factors for robust estimates. Second, in terms of student level factors, students prefer agri-food industry career to other industry career with higher satisfaction in major, parents’ job much related to agriculture, and parents’ more positive opinion about agri-food industry. Third, in terms of college level factors, agri-food industry career is more selected for college with higher tuition, specialization project, and education program. Also, our results emphasize the role of agricultural college in constructing educational system to improve students’ mind and in expanding associated financial infrastructure.
