이 연구의 목적은 4년제 대학 졸업예정자의 대학원 진학 선택 여부와 관련 변인간의 관계를 구명하는 데에 있었다. 이 연구의 모집단은 전국의 4년제 대학에 재학 중인 대학 졸업예정자들이었으며, 자료수집을 위한 조사도구로는 설문지가 사용되었다. 자료의 수집은 2008년 10월 20일부터 11월 6일 까지, 방문 및 우편, e-mail을 활용하여 이루어졌으며, 총 6개 대학 24개 학과를 대상으로 실시하였다. 설문지는 총 720부가 배포되었고, 총 535부가 분석에 사용되었으며, 자료의 분석을 위해서는 로지스틱 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 이 연구를 통해 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 4년제 대학 졸업예정자의 대학원 진학 선택 여부와 관련 변인들 간의 관계를 살펴보면 전공 선택 요인(내적), 어머니의 교육 수준, 대학원졸업자의 사회적 대우에 대한 인식, 구직능력, 연령이 4년제 대학 졸업예정자의 진학 확률을 높이는데 유의한 영향을 미치는 변인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 구명된 변인들을 통하여 4년제 대학 졸업예정자의 대학원 진학 선택 결정 여부가 예측되는 비율을 살펴보면 진학을 희망하는 졸업예정자의 경우 84.9%, 취업 및 기타의 진로를 계획하는 졸업예정자의 경우에는 47.2%가 정확히 분류되어, 전체적으로는 71.0%의 예측력을 보여주었다. 또한 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 향후 연구 결과의 활용과 후속 연구를 위한 사항들을 제언하였다.
The Purpose of this study was to identify related variables and their predictabilities of graduates-to-be to proceed to graduate schools. The population for this study was graduates-to-be of universities in Korea. The data were collected through mail survey, e-mail survey and on-site interview from Oct. 20, 2008 to Nov. 6, 2008. Total of 720 survey instruments were distributed and 535 surveys were used for the analysis. The data were analyzed with logistic regression. The major results of this study were as follows: 1) The type of major selecting influence postgraduate educational continuation, specially intrinsic factors. 2) Mother s level of education affects educational continuation after the baccalaureate. 3) Social perceptions regarding the prestige of graduate degree have a relation with graduate school advancement. 4) Job ability affects on educational continuation negatively. 5) Age has a negative effect on educational continuation. 6) This model predicted 84.9% accurately for the students who have a aspiration of graduate school advancement, and 47.2% for the students who want to be employed. Consequently Predictive power of this model is 71.0%. And the recommendations were proposed for the applications of the study results and future researches.
