주변 나뭇가지를 활용한 목공활동이 만5세 유아의 공간능력 및 창의성에 미치는 영향

Effect of wood working activities of 5-year-old infants on their spatial capacity and creatiivity

본 연구는 주변 나뭇가지를 활용한 목공활동이 유아의 공간능력과 창의성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 C시에 위치하고 있는 S어린이집에 재원중인 만5세 18명을 실험집단으로, H어린이집에 재원 중인 만5세 18명을 비교집단으로 선정하였다. 실험집단에는 주변 나뭇가지를 활용한 목공활동을 실시하였고, 비교집단에는 DIY형태의 목공재료를 활용한 목공활동을 실시하였다. 실험집단과 비교집단의 목공활동 전후에 유아의 공간능력과 창의성 검사 도구를 사용하여 사전검사와 사후검사로 연구 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 24.0 통계프로그램을 이용하여 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주변 나뭇가지를 활용한 목공활동을 실시한 실험집단이 비교집단보다 유아의 공간능력에 유의미한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 주변 나뭇가지를 활용한 목공활동을 실시한 실험집단이 비교집단보다 유아의 창의성에 유의미한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 목공활동이 유아교육현장에서 공간능력과 창의성을 기르는데 의미있는 교육활동임을 시사하고 있다.

This study was conducted to find out the impact of wood working activities on the spatial capacity and creativity of infants. For this purpose, eighteen 5-year-old infants who were enrolled in the “S” Daycare Center located in “C” city were selected as the experimental group, and eighteen 5-year-old who were enrolled “H” Daycare Center were compared as the control group. Tree branch materials (small diameter-log) were used for the experimental group. Do-It-Yourself(DIY) wood working activities were done for the control group. The data were collected by pretest and posttest with the infant’s spatial capability and creativity inspection tools. For the analysis of the collected data, the statistic softwear SPSS 24.0 were used. From the analysis result, it is found that wood working activities had a significant effect on the spatial capacity and the creativity of them. Therefore, the results are thought to provide a meaningful direction for activating wood working activities in early childhood education sites
