Participatory Motivations of the Learners in Advanced Agricultural Management Program for Farmers

The purpose of this study was to identify learner s characteristics of Advanced Agricultural Management Program for Farmers(AAMP), and to identify participatory motivations, and to analyze participatory motivation according to individual characters. The population was 1601 farmers who took part in AAMP at the 22 colleges of agriculture in the nation in 2005. Using the stratified random sampling, 436 Participants were selected in AAMP at the 5 colleges of agriculture in nation in June, 2005. A survey questionnaire was developed by the researcher from the review of literature, panel of experts and pilot test. It was consisted of the motivation scale and personal characteristics items. The data was analyzed through windows SPSS 12.0 statistics packages and used descriptive and inferential statistics. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, the learners of AAMP have rather high motivation in education, activity. The highest rate s answers were as such: in order to make a better result in what I m taking charge of , in order to accomplish what I am planning , because learning something is just interesting as itself and because of the thought that obtaining new knowledge or skills is worthwhile and fruitful. Second, participatory motivation showed differences by personal characteristics such as gender, age, educational background, sales amount of previous year, period of farming experiences, types of farming and frequency of attending educational program.
