A Study on the Development and Implementation of Crop Production Information System Prototype

Currently, a few of agriculture related organizations provide information about crops production for the farmer in Korea. But, from the viewpoint of farmer, since most of information contents being serviced are not localized and specialized in the individual crop, it is very hard for farmer to find information which can serve as clues to solve their own immediate problems in crop production. In this paper, we designed a web-based collaborative information system called CPIS(Crop Production Information System) for the local farmer and the advisor who guides the crop production technically. CPIS supports them with providing real-time crop production information, cultivation expertise, and the analytical facility for supporting the decision maker. In particular, CPIS is designed as domain-independent DSS shell. Therefore a system developer can change the contents of knowledge to suit his/her interesting crop. In other words, it can be used in various areas just by changing the domain knowledge. To show the applicability in real world problem, we tested the prototype of CPIS on local area.
