The objectives of this study were to develop a new analytical framework of agricultural education, to analyze the existing agricultural education based on the new framework, and to suggest new direction of agricultural education. After reviewing the existing literature, group discussions among the researchers and experts on agricultural education, general agricultural education, vocational agricultural education, rural adult education, and agricultural extension were held to attain the study objectives. Major results from this study were as follows: 1) Views on agricultural education should be shifted from the previous industrial society s view to a new knowledge-based society s view to reflect the societal changes. 2) More active discussions should be necessary in searching for the practical measures for vertical and horizontal articulation, integration, and cooperation among agricultural education institutions in adopting emerging needs on agricultural education. 3) Academic activities and practical educational activities of agricultural education should be more closely connected internally as well as mutually to meet the various needs of agricultural education. 4) Agricultural education should be concerned about emerging needs for broadening general agricultural education for various target groups as well as strengthening vocational agricultural education. 5) More specific operational mechanisms of agricultural education including subjects and objects of education, goals and contents of education, methods and evaluations of education should be adopted to satisfy the various customers of agricultural education.
