The purpose of this study was to find out how the factors such as parents support, teachers support, friends support and emotional intelligence which are closely related with the adaptation of high school students to their schools show difference depending on school types. Also this study aims to analyze the set patterns of routes of factors related with the adaptation to a school according to school types. The targets of this research were picked from second graders of 9 schools from both academic and vocational schools. 550 students were selected through the method of convenience sampling. 550 questionnaires were given out in total and 518 questionnaires were returned. From the 518, 18 questionnaires which were not answered fully were excepted and 500 questionnaires were used for the actual analysis in total. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, the degree of recognition for parents support, emotional recognition, emotional application, emotional intelligence, adaptation to classes, adaptation to friends, adaptation to school life and adaptation to school were shown to be higher in academic students than in vocational students. Secondly, as for the difference in school types, 4 factors including parents support, teachers support, friends support and emotional intelligence gave influence to behaviors adapting to schools through direct and indirect routes and in effect, gave significant difference in 4 routes for the academic school and 3 for the vocational schools. Thirdly, as a whole, 4 factors including parents support, teachers support, friends support and emotional intelligence showed significant difference through 5 routes among the 7 direct and indirect routes to behaviors adapting to schools. The overall effect appeared in the order of friends support, teachers support and parents support for the emotional intelligence and in the order of emotional intelligence, teachers support, parents support and friends support for adaptation to schools.
