농어촌학교 우수교사 확보 문제와 개선방안

Strategies to Secure Teachers for Rural Schools in Korea

The purpose of this study was to suggest strategies to effectively secure teachers for rural schools. For the purpose, the researchers reviewed the current policies of Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, the local government policies, educational statistics, and reports, which were related to rural school teachers. As a result, this study suggested following the strategies: ① to secure teachers in preservice stage; to endow scholarship and to be exempted from military service for preservice teachers to volunteer for serving in rural schools after graduating; ② to attract teachers; to reinforce welfare, to intensify the allowance system, to give benefit in advancement, and to arrange administrative assistants for rural teachers; ③ to provide support for teaching and learning of rural educators; to improve teachers understanding and competencies on rural education and to support educational facilities and teaching materials for rural schools.
