This study was carried out to investigate the status of technical management of pig farms such as reproduction, mating system, farming size, farrowing and weaning performance, productivities, etc. for agricultural education in pig farms. Data was obtained from 240 farms in Chungnam and Kyeonggi province surveyed were collected and analyzed from August, 2001 to July, 2002. The results obtained were as follows. The average number of sow and total pigs per farm were 167.3 and 1,667.3 heads, respectively. The litter size born alive and at weaning were 10.8 and 10.1 heads. The rate of conception and farrowing were 90.9% and 2.27 times, respectively. The average marketing weight was 111.0 kg, and then the career for raising pigs were 15.66 years. The marketing system at finishing the fattening pig was mainly conducted through cooperative sale in farming. 62.1% of farms has been purchasing and using feeds of general agency. In the mating system, artificial insemination was used with the level of 67.1% among total farms. The exchange of another feeds was conducted by means of self-judging. The system of disease prevention and disinfection was mostly conducted daily, and 3 times per week. The utilization of consultation for technical management was 55.4% of total farms with the help of private professional consultants and skilled consultants working with feed companies. The fields of agricultural education needed at pig farms were mainly the prevention and treatments of animal disease.
