Information Requirements Analysis and Its Impact: Evidence from Agribusiness Information Systems for Swine Industry

This study proposes IRA(Information Requirements Analysis) strategies for Agribusiness Information System(AIS) development and shows the effect of the strategies using Pigplan data. We review the literatures on AIS to clarifies problem on IRA by its position in SDLC(System Developments Life Cycle). We have selected to evaluate all fifteen cases of AIS development projects reported in ARPC(Agricultural R&D Promotion Center) projects from 1995 to 1998 and find that IRA is not properly performed in most of the projects. The evaluation results in strategies for IRA for successful AIS development together with the IRA methods used in other Information System developments. Evidence from Pigplan data supports the effectiveness of the strategies.
