The Changes of Rural Society in Industrializing Decades

The purposes of the study were to identity the changes of Korean rural society industrializing decades and to get implications for the rural development policies. The study was administered though literature review and official statistical data analysis. Agriculture has been marked relatively lower economic rate among Korean economy sectors. Rural population has been decreased rapidly in last three decades. As result of rural depopulation, agriculture has been recognized as a declining industry. Economic status of farmers has been deteriorated remarkably but there has beenchance to make money in rural area. Also, facilities for education, health and cultural activities in rural area were relatively poor in contrast of them in urban area. For the balanced regional development, first of all, rural income increasing program should be enlarged through cash crop cultivation, rural amenity projects, directpayment projects and non-farm job opportunities. More development fund for rural life should be allottedon the facilities for education, health, housing and cultural activities. Projects to lessen the digital divide of rural area should be included rural human settlement program.
