The purpose of this study was to identify the roles of extension workers as human resource development practitioner in agriculture and to determine their educational needs on the teaching competency. A sample of 600 extension workers was drawn from the population. A questionnaire was mailed to the sample and only 314 questionnaires were returned and analyzed for the study. The educational needs of extension workers on the teaching competencies were calculated based on the Borich s formula. The results of this study were as follows. 1)Extension workers highly perceived that they should play in several roles as human resource development practitioners in agriculture. 2) Extension workers perceived that their required level on the teaching competencies was average and also was their current level medium. 3) Extension workers have a lower level of educational needs on the teaching competency because they perceived themselves as a very competent educator. 4) Most of extension workers perceived that they should be trained as human resource development practitioner in agriculture.
