초등학생용 해양환경교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용

Development and Application of the Marine Environmental Program for Elementary School Students

이 연구는 초등학교 5∼6학년 학생들을 대상으로 해양환경교육 프로그램을 개발하고 적용하여 초등학생들의 해양환경에 대한 인식과 태도에 대한 효과를 검증하였다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 국가 기관에서 개발한 해양환경교육 교재와 초등학생들의 대상으로 한 해양환경 관련 선행연구를 분석하였다. 분석한 내용을 바탕으로 기획, 설계 및 검증, 적용, 평가의 4단계에 걸쳐서 7주제 13차시 분량의 해양환경교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 이를 서울시 소재의 초등학교 5학년 1개 학급 을 대상으로 사전․사후 단일집단 설계를 통해 3개월간 적용하였다. 이 연구를 통해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기존에 개발된 해양환경 교재를 분석한 내용을 바탕으로 아이디어 목록을 작성한 다음, 프로그램 주제와 활동을 선정하여 해양환경교육 프로그램을 구안하였다. 둘째, 해양환경 인식과 태도를 측정하는 검사지를 통해 사전․사후검사를 비교한 결과, 해양환경교육 프로그램은 초등학생들의 해양환경 인식과 태도 함양에 통계적으로 유의미한 효과가 있음이 검증되었다. 셋째, 활동 결과물과 소감문을 통한 정성적 분석한 결과에서도 해양환경교육 프로그램은 학생들의 실천의지, 해양환경에 대한 관심과 흥미, 해양환경 보전을 위한 실천에 참여하려는 태도를 보였다. 이 연구를 통해 얻은 결론을 종합적으로 살펴보면, 이 연구에서 개발된 프로그램은 초등학교 고학년 학생들의 수준에 적합하며, 초등학생들의 해양환경에 대한 관심과 해양환경 보전에 참여를 유발하는데 효과적이었다. 따라서 이 연구는 초등학교 교육과정과 교육현장에서 관련 수업이 거의 이루어지지 않고 있는 해양환경교육을 실제 수업에서 활용할 수 있는 프로그램을 개발하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the improvement of marine environmental awareness and attitude by developing a marine environmental education program for fifth and sixth graders of elementary school. Accordingly the marine environmental education textbook developed by the national institution and the prior studies relating to marine environment for elementary school students were analyzed. Based on the analysis, programs with 13 sessions of seven subjects in four stages of planning, design and verification, application, and evaluation were developed. The programs were applied to a class of fifth grade students using creative experience activity time through a single pre- and post-test design. The results of this study are as follows. First, a list of ideas was prepared based on the analysis of the previously developed marine environment textbook, and subsequently the marine environmental education program was developed by selecting program subjects and activities. Second, the comparison of pre- and post-test through the questionnaire indicated that the program has a statistically significant effect on the marine environmental awareness and attitude of elementary school students. Third, in the results of qualitative analysis through the results of activities and testimonies, the marine environment education program revealed the students willingness to practice, display interest in the marine environment, and an attitude to participate in practices for preserving the marine environment. In conclusion, the program developed in this study was suitable for the level of elementary school seniors, and was effective in encouraging elementary school students interest in the marine environment and participation in the conservation of the marine environment. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that it has developed a program to utilize marine environment education in actual classes, where related classes are rarely conducted in elementary school curriculum and educational fields.
