FGI Analysis on the Braille Format of Wide Tables

연구 목적: 이 연구는 넓은 표를 점역할 때 어떤 형식으로 제시할 수 있을까를 탐색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구 방법: 시각장애학생 교사와 점역사 8명의 전문가가 화상으로 모여서 FGI로 진행되었으며 면담 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과: 하위범주는 9가지가 도출되었으며, 3가지씩 상위범주 3가지로 묶였다. 상위범주는 ‘표 점역: 이분화 구조’, ‘중간지대: 표 점역 형식의 합의점’, ‘선순환 구조: 표 읽기 교육’이다. 핵심주제는 ‘표의 점역은 점자사용자의 합의로 이루어져야 한다’이다. 결론: 넓은 표의 점역에서 도입할 수 있는 새로운 형식은 행과 열의 정렬, 마주보는 페이지 활용, 자릿수 정렬 등이다. 새로운 점역 형식은 교육현장에서 점자사용자의 표 읽기 훈련을 위한 교사의 노력과 점역사의 활용 능력이 전제되어야 한다.

Purpose: This study aims to explore possible formats for Braille translation of wide tables. Method: A total of eight experts consisting of educators teaching students with visual impairment and blindness and braille translators participated in the focus group interviews online. The researcher analyzed the transcribed interviews. Results: Nine sub-categories were derived and categorized into the three main categories. Each main category contains three sub-categories. The three main categories are ‘Braille translation of tables: Dichotomy’, ‘Middle ground: Agreement upon the braille format of tables, and ‘Virtuous cycle: Table reading education.’ The main theme is that the braille translation of tables requires agreement among braille users. Conclusion: The new possible formats for braille translation of wide tables are aligning rows and columns, using facing pages, and aligning decimal numbers in tables. The new format of braille translation of wide tables requires educators’ efforts to train braille users to read tables and braille translators’ skills to implement the new format in their translation.
