직장인부부의 경력요구에 대한 질적 연구 - 만화경경력모형을 중심으로 -

Qualitative Study on the Career Needs of Dual Career Couples - Using Kaleidoscopes Career Model -

이 연구의 목적은 만화경 경력모형이 제시하는 세 가지 경력요구를 중심으로 직장인부부들의 경력요구 우선순위가 어떠한지, 그들이 경력요구를 충족하며 경력을 형성하는 과정이 어떠한지 살펴보고자 하는데 있다. 36개월 이상 취학자녀를 둔 직장인부부 5 커플을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 수행하여 질적 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 남편과 아내간의 경력요구의 패턴이 상이하게 나타났다. 둘째, 진정성(authenticity)과 균형(balance), 도전(challenge)의 경력요구는 경력형성 과정에서 새롭게 정의되고 있었다. 셋째, 직장인부부 간에는 서로의 도전을 지지하며 경력개발과정을 함께하는 경력지원적 파트너쉽이 존재함이 드러났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 부부가 함께 생애주기에 따라 서로의 경력을 지지하며 함께 성장하는 양성평등한 경력개발의 지원책에 대해 논의할 수 있었다.

This paper aims to explore, with the lens of kaleidoscope career model, the priorities in career needs and the career developing process of meeting such needs in of married, dual career couples of South Korea. Qualitative data from five couples were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews. The collected data were analyzed with the guide of the kaleidoscope career model. The findings were demonstrated in three parts. First, it was found that the career pattern of husband and wife was different. Second, the meaning of the three career needs—authenticity, balance, and challenge—was changed and expanded. Third, couples were in developmental relationship with their spouse. Such results indicated that intervention should be provided to support harmony between career and life, and have dual career couples meet their career needs.
