Mediating Effect of Father’s Parenting of a Young Child perceived by Mother in the Impact of His Parental Intelligence on Her Marital Satisfaction

This study investigates the mediating effect of father’s parenting of a young child perceived by the mother in the impact of his parental intelligence on her marital satisfaction. For this purpose, 254 parents of 3-to-7-year-old children were selected. Regardless of attendance in an institution and the father’s parental intelligence, his parenting perceived by the mother and her marital satisfaction were measured. Finally, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted with the selected data, using SPSS 23 and JAMOVI 1.2. As a result, the father’s parental intelligence had positive correlations with his parenting perceived by the mother and her marital satisfaction. Also, there was a full mediating effect of his parenting perceived by her in the impact of his parental intelligence on her marital satisfaction. It is expected that follow-up studies would utilize this result as baseline data for program composition, considering the relationships among the three variables in setting parent education and a parenting strategy for parents of young children. Above all, since the father’s parenting perceived by the mother plays an important role in improving her marital satisfaction, a solution to improve the quality of her life is required through continuously checking the level of his parenting perceived by her.
