A Qualitative Study on the Experiences of Attachment Injury for Primary Caregiver of Juvenile Delinquents

This study was conducted to find out how juvenile delinquents experienced attachment injury from their primary caregivers and how they experienced attachment injury, and what the impact had on their current lives. This research was performed on 10 male teenagers who suffered attachment injury among those who were suspended from prosecution and treated for protection. The research method was in-depth interviews using semi-structured questionnaires about the experience of research participants and analyzed according to the phenomenological research method of Giorgi. As a result of the analysis, juvenile delinquents who experienced attachment injury from their primary caregivers, experienced difficulties such as fear, anger, resentment, burden, sadness, depression, loneliness, longing, guilt, suicide due to self-injury, immature relationship formation, and maladjustment of school and social life, and 12 components of support for overcoming attachment injury, adaptation process and recovery after attachment injury, and will of change for the future. 28 subcomponents were derived. Based on this research, we presented discussions and suggestions for future research.
