The Effects of the Degree of Disability of the Disabled on Life Satisfaction: The Serial Mediation Effect of Discrimination

본 연구는 장애인의 장애정도와 차별경험, 장애수용도, 생활만족도 간의 관계를 확인하고, 장애정도와 생활만족도 간의 차별경험과 장애수용도의 순차적 매개효과를 검증하기 위하여 직렬다중매개모형을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석을 위해 장애인고용패널조사(PSED)의 2019년 자료 중 모든 문항에 응답한 3,887명의 자료를 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 각 변인 간의 관계에서 장애정도는 차별경험에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤고 장애정도와 차별경험은 장애수용도에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 차별경험과 장애수용도가 생활만족도에 미치는 영향을 통제하였을 때, 장애정도 자체만으로는 생활만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였으며, 차별경험은 부적으로, 장애수용도는 정적으로 생활만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 매개효과 검증 결과에서는 장애정도와 생활만족도 간의 관계에서 차별경험과 장애수용도가 각각 부적으로 유의한 매개효과를 가졌으며, 차별경험과 장애수용도의 순차적 매개효과도 부적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 기존의 연구에서 밝힌 장애 관련 변인들의 단선적인 관계를 통합하여 구조적인 관계를 살펴봄으로써, 장애인의 생활만족도의 증진을 위한 다차원적인 방안의 필요성을 제고하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study examined the relationship among the degree of disability, discrimination experience, disability acceptance, and life satisfaction. The serial mediation effect of the discrimination experience and the disability acceptance was further verified between the degree of disability and the life satisfaction. The Panel Study of Employment for the Disabled (PSED) 2019 data were utilized in the analysis, consisting of 3,788 respondents. The results indicate that the degree of disability positively affects the discrimination experience. Moreover, the degree of disability and discrimination experience negatively affect disability acceptance. When controlling discrimination experience and disability acceptance, the degree of disability did not have a significant effect on life satisfaction. Discrimination experience had a significantly negative effect on life satisfaction, while disability acceptance had a significantly positive effect on life satisfaction. As for the mediation effect, the discrimination experience and disability acceptance had a significantly negative mediation effect in the relationship between the degree of disability and life satisfaction. The serial mediation effect of discrimination experience and disability acceptance was also significantly negative. Based on the structural relationship of disability-related variables, the article concludes with the necessity for measures to enhance the life satisfaction of people with disabilities.
