가람본 『고금소총』에 대하여

A Study on the Go-Gŭm-So-Chong(古今笑叢) in Garam Collections

『고금소총(古今笑叢)』 이본은 두 가지 계열이 전한다. 하나는 동양문고본으로 『어우야담(於于野談)』․『하담기문(荷潭記聞)』․『잠곡필담(潛谷筆談)』․ 『종남총지(終南叢志)』․『천예록(天倪錄)』에서 약간 편을 발췌하여 편집한 『고금소총』과 그 뒤에 홍만종의 『명엽지해(蓂葉志諧)』가 붙어있다. 다른 하나는 가람문고본으로 『촌담해이(村談解頤)』․『어면순(禦眠楯)』․『속어면순(續禦眠楯)』에서 약간 편을 발췌하여 편집한 『고금소총』이다. 지금까지 『고금소총』이라 하면 홍만종(洪萬宗, 1643～1725)의 편저(編著)로 동양문고본을 가리키는 것이었다. 그러나 홍만종의 저서로 추정되는 『부부고(覆瓿藁)』가 발견되고 그 중에 ｢속고금소총서(續古今笑叢序)｣가 실려 있는 것이 확인되었기에 『고금소총』과 『속고금소총(續古今笑叢)』이 모두 홍만종의 편저작(編著作)이라 할 수 있게 되었다. 아울러 관계 기록과 자료를 검토해 본 결과, 가람문고본의 경우 ‘고금소총’이라는 제명(題名)을 가탁(假託)한 것이 아니라 『속고금소총』에 홍만종이 편집해서 실어 놓은 약간 편이 전해지는 과정에서 ‘고금소총’이라 재명명된 것이라 추정할 수 있게 되었다.

There are two series in Go-Gŭm-So-Chong(古今笑叢). One is Toyo Bunko(東洋文 庫)’s, and the other is Garam Collection’s. Toyo Bunko’s is named Go-Gŭm-So-Chong that had been edited by extracting a little part from Eo-U-Ya-Dam(於于野談), Ha- Dam-Gi-Mun(荷潭記聞), Jam-Gok-Pil-Dam(潛谷筆談), Jong-Nam-Chong-Ji(終南叢志) and Cheon-Ye-Rok(天倪錄). And after this, it had been combined Myeong-Yeob-Ji-Hae(蓂 葉志諧) in a single volume. Garam Collection’s is named Go-Gŭm-So-Chong too, but that edited by extracting some parts from Chon-Dam-Hae-I(村談解頤), Eo-Myeon-Sun (禦眠楯), and Sok-Eo-Myeon-Sun(續禦眠楯) that contains some obscene stories. So far, it has been Toyo Bunko’s named Go-Gŭm-So-Chong published by Hong, Manjong (洪萬宗, 1643～1725). But by the new discovery of Bu-Bu-Go(覆瓿藁) contains the preface of Sok-Go-Gŭm-So-Chong(續古今笑叢序), it could be supposed that both of the Go-Gŭm-So-Chong and Sok-Go-Gŭm-So-Chong had been edited by Hong, Manjong. In addition, after reviewing related records, it is possible to assume that Garam Collection’s named Go-Gŭm-So-Chong is not under the pretense. And some obscene stories that edited and inserted by Hong, Manjong in Sok-Go-Gŭm-So-Chong had been carried and denominated the name of Go-Gŭm-So-Chong by someone who had transcribed those works.
