Purpose: This study examined the effects of the community sense and interpersonal need on successful aging in the urban elders. Methods: The subjects were 126 elderly people living at home over the age of 60 years who used the Senior Welfare Center located in C city. Data were collected from January 2019 to May 2019 for the elderly who could communicate, understood the purpose of the study, and agreed to participate actively. Statistical analysis of ANOVA and multiple analyses were performed using the SPSS statistics package. Results: Psychological loss in aging attitudes was significantly different according to age, spouse, educational level, and subjective health status. An analysis of the difference showed that the psychological loss was lower if there was a spouse, the education level was high, and the subjective health status was good. Social loss has a negative correlation with community sense and a positive correlation with interpersonal needs. Conclusion: The community sense and interpersonal needs are important factors affecting the aging attitudes of the community-dwelling older adults. Based on this study, an educational program that can positively change the aging attitude is needed for successful aging.
