법화경의 주요 사상과 그 시사점

The principal ideas in Lotus-Sutra and those implications

법화경은 ‘경전의 왕’으로 높이 평가받고 있으며, 중국의 교판론자들도 ‘진실한 가르침’, ‘근본으로 돌아가게 하는 가르침’ 등으로 높이 평가하였다. 법화경이 이러한 평가를 받는 점에 주목하여 본 연구는 법화경의 주요 사상이 무엇이며, 그것이 우리에게 주는 시사점은 무엇인지를 논의해 보았다. 그 결과, 법화경의 핵심 사상을 일승 사상, 회삼귀일 사상, 일체중생성불 사상, 구원본불 사상, 본원 사상, 이렇게 다섯 가지로 파악하였다. 법화경의 핵심 사상이 비단 이 다섯 가지만은 아닐 것이지만, 다섯 가지로 파악한 것은 전적으로 필자가 불민한 탓이다. 법화경의 핵심 사상 다섯 가지를 간략히 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일승 사상이란 모든 존재가 부처이며, 따라서 이 세상이 온통 부처뿐이라는 사상이다. 둘째, 회삼귀일 사상이란 삼승을 모아서 일승으로 돌아간다는 사상이다. 셋째, 일체중생성불 사상이란 모든 사람이 부처가 될 수 있다는 사상이다. 넷째, 구원본불 사상이란 이 세상에 출현했다가 열반에 든 석가모니 부처님은 방편부처에 불과하고, 본불은 결코 열반에 드는 일이 없으며 영원하다는 사상이다. 다섯째, 본원 사 상이란 모든 중생들이 지금 이대로 영원한 구원본불임을 깨닫게 하는 것이 여러 부처님들의 본래 서원이라는 사상이다.

In this paper, I tried to grasp what is the core ideas of Lotus-Sutra. As a result, I pointed it out to five ideas : the one-vehicle thought, the thought of bringing the three together and go back to one, the thought of all the people becoming the buddha, the thought of buddha from a long time ago, buddha inherent wish thought. The five core ideas of Lotus-Sutra are briefly summarized as follows. First, the one-vehicle thought is that all life-giving things and all things without life are Buddha as they are now. Second, the thought of bringing the three together and go back to one is that buddha brings the three vehicles together and then go back to one vehicle. Third, the thought of all the people becoming buddha is that all the people become buddha. Fourth, the thought of buddha from a long time ago is that Buddha Sakyamuni who appeared in this world is not the real Buddha that is forever. Fifth, buddha s inherent wish thought is that buddha wants to help all the people to become buddha.
