A Study about the great spiritual Puritans

서론에서 간략하게 16세기에 시작된 청교도 운동의 역사를 개관하고, 이어 본론에서 10명의 위대한 청교도 거장들의 삶을 고찰했다. 목사의 사제복 착용을 반대한 존 후퍼(John Hooper), 교회의 계급 구조를 비판한 토마스 카트라이트(Thomas Cartwright), 성경적 기독교 회복에 앞장을 선윌리엄 퍼킨스(William Perkins), 실천적 신학 운동을 이끈 윌리엄 에임스(William Ames), 성도들의 상처를 보듬었던 설교자이자 목회자였던 리처드 십스(Richard Sibbes), 박학다식한 케임브릿지 대학의 설교자 존 프레스턴(John Preston), 독립파 운동을 이끌었던 청교도 지도자 토마스 굿윈(Thomas Goodwin), 법치주의 운동의 선구자였던 사무엘 러더포드(Samuel Rutherford), 비국교도 운동을 앞장 서서 이끌었던 칼빈주의자 존 오웬(John Owen), 청교도의 참 목자상으로 불리는 리처드 백스터(Richard Baxter)에 이르기까지 10명의 청교도의 영적 거장들의 삶을 고찰했다. 이러한 고찰은 오늘날 주어진 삶의 자리에서 빛과 소금의 역할을 감당하도록 우리들의 신앙을 이끈다.

First we see history and background of Puritan Movement. And second we consider about the great 10 person’s life of puritan. Those are as follows. John Hooper who opposed to wear on priest clothes for pastor, Thomas Cartwright who critisized the hierachical structure of church, William Perkins who leaded the biblical restoration of christian at the head of peoples, William Ames who leaded the practical movement of theology, Richard Sibbes who embraces the mindful scares of the christian saints, John Preston who was a well-informed preacher of Cambridge University, Thomas Goodwin who set the people on the independent movement, Samuel Rutherford who took the lead the constitutionalism, John Owen who was a pioneer lead the Nonconformists movement, Richard Baxter who was a model of true pastor image . These considerations about great ten puritan leaders will lead us as a light and salt in ‘Sitz im Leben’today.
