상호문화교육의 관점에서 살펴본 충청남도 다문화가족지원센터 교육 프로그램의 현황과 개선방안 연구

Analysis of Education Programs at the Multicultural Support Center in Chungnam Province from the Perspective of Intercultural Competence

이 연구에서는 다문화사회에 진입한 충청남도의 다문화가족지원센터에서 진행하고 있는 프로그램의 현황을 파악하고, 이를 상호문화교육의 관점에서 분석함으로써, 향후 충남도 다문화가족 지원센터의 프로그램 운영의 바람직한 방향을 제시하는 것이 목적이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 총 7개의 상호문화교육 목표와 기준-의사소통 및 상호작용, 문화적 다양성과 차이 이해, 자문화에 대한 정체성 확립, 타문화 이해, 공동체 의식과 민주시민 자질 함양, 평화적 갈등 해결 및 협력적 태도 함양, 인권 존중 및 사회 정의 가치 습득-을 설정하고 각 목표에 부합하는 다문화센터의 프로그램들을 조사하고 분석하였다. 그 결과, 의사소통 능력 향상의 목표를 제외하고는 대부분의 목표에 부합하는 프로그램들이 부족하거나 전무한 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 충남도는 다양한 인적 구성을 가진 다문화사회이지만, 인적 구성에 비해 실제 운영되는 교육 프로그램에서는 문화 간의 만남을 가능하게 하는 요소가 매우 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 다양한 사회 구성원들이 서로의 문화에 대한 이해와 존중을 통하여, 다양성이 평화적으로 공존할 수 있도록 시민의식을 형성하기 위한 교육이 실시되어야 한다. 또한 다문화센터의 교육 프로그램을 통해 잠재되어 있는 역동성이 발휘될 수 있도록 해야 하며, 참여자들이 자국 문화 간의 교량으로서의 역할 수행이 가능하도록 운영되어야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to identify the current programs in multicultural centers of Chungnam Province, and analyze them from the perspective of intercultural education, thereby presenting desirable directions for the programs. To achieve this goal, seven intercultural education goals and standards were set, based on which the programs of multicultural centers have been examined. The results showed that except for the goal of communication, there were very few or none of the programs that could help achieve the rest of the intercultural education goals. In particular, although Chungnam Province is a multicultural society, there are very few elements that enable cultural encounters in actual educational programs. Therefore, education should be oriented to encourage diverse population of the province to coexist peacefully through understanding and respect for each other s cultures so that the participants can strengthen their capacity to play a role as a bridge between the cultures.
