This study was correlational research to examine the relationships among communication styles, internet use disorder, and alcohol use disorder in nursing students. Data were collected from a survey of 230 nursing students in 2015 and 2019 at a university in J Province and analyzed by using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The date were analyzed by the descriptive statistics, independent t-test, univariate ANOVA, Scheffé, chi-squared test, and Person correlation analysis. According to the results, the communication styles of subjects in 2019 reduced in the blame and the distracting styles compared to 2015. The placating communication style differed in the degree of drinking, and alcohol addiction differed in gender, type of residence, and degree of drinking in the general characteristics. Subjects’ internet use disorder was positively correlated with distracting style (r=387, p<0.001), blame style (r=0.322, p<0.001), and super-reasonable style (r=0.259, p<0.001), but negatively correlated with congruent style (r=-0.170, p=0.005). Alcohol use disorder was positively correlated with blame style (r=0.132, p=0.023), but negatively correlated with distracting style (r=-0.175, p=0.004). This study shows that close observation and guidance on students’ communication types are needed to prevent internet addiction and alcoholism.
