The Relationship between Child’s Activities of Daily Living, Caregiver Burden and Depression in Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities: Focusing on the verification of Moderated Mediating Effect of Participation in Religious Activities

본 연구의 목적은 발달장애 자녀의 일상생활 수행능력과 부모의 양육부담과 우울의 관계성을 검증하고, 이 관계에서 종교활동 참여도의 조절된 매개효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 분석대상은 만 6세 이상의 발달장애 자녀를 양육하고 있는 부모 중 종교를 가진 부모 266명이다. 조절된 매개효과는 SPSS Macro 프로그램인 PROCESS (ver.3.4)를 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 부모의 양육부담감은 발달장애 자녀의 일상생활 수행능력과 우울과의 관계를 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 종교활동 참여도는 양육부담감과 우울의 관계를 조절하였다. 셋째, 발달장애 자녀의 일상생활 수행능력과 우울과의 관계에서 양육부담감의 매개효과는 종교 활동 참여도에 따라 조절되는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 발달장애 자녀 부모의 우울예방을 위한 심리지원 체계 구축의 필요성, 발달장애 자녀를 위한 일상생활 기술훈련 서비스 교육을 위한 평생교육 지원, 부모 양육부담감 감소를 위한 돌봄지원 및 장애인활동지원제도 개선, 발달장애 가족 지원을 위한 종교기관의 역할증대 및 지역사회와의 협력 필요성을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between the ADL (Activities of Daily Living), caregiver burden, parental depression and to verify the moderated mediating effect of their participation in religious activities in this relationship. In this study, 266 parents with religions among parents of children with developmental disabilities over the age of six were selected. The moderated mediating effect was analyzed using the SPSS Macro program, PROCESS (ver.3.4). Results, First, Caregiver burden was found to completely mediate the relationship between child s ADL and depression in parents. Second, participation in religious activities moderated the relationship between caregiver burden and depression. Third, the mediating effect of caregiver burden on the relationship between child s ADL and depression in parents was found to be moderated according to their participation in religious activities. Based on these results, the study suggested psychological intervention programs for preventing depression in parents of children with developmental disabilities, lifelong education for daily living skill training of children with developmental disabilities, improvement of care service and personal assistance system for disabled people, increased role of religious institutions to support families with developmentally disabled children, and cooperation with community.
