보육실습 현장의 관계적 맥락에서 이루어지는 예비유아교사의 정체성 형성과정 탐색

Exploration of pre-service teachers idendity construction process in a relational context of a child care practicum site

본 연구는 보육실습이 만들어내는 관계적 맥락 속에서 예비유아교사들이 주체적으로 자신의 정체성을 형성하고 이를 지속적으로 재구성해가는 과정을 심층적으로 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 두 예비유아교사가 보육실습을 하고 있는 어린이집 현장에서 실습기간 동안 예비유아교사들의 일상적인 경험, 정황 및 사고와 행동을 자연스럽게 따라가면서 실습 기관에서 맺고 있는 관계, 감정􄞻정서, 고민이나 갈등 그리고 그들이 자신의 경험에 부여하는 의미와 해석에 경청하였다. 참여관찰과 실습일지 및 저널 등 질적자료를 수집하고 분석한 결과, 1) 외부자-내부자: 누가 나의 이름을 불러주기 전에는; 2) 학생-교사로서 ‘나’ 마주하기; 3) 교사 되어가기의 변곡점: 대상-주체라는 주제가 도출되었다. 본 연구결과는 예비유아교사들이 실습 경험을 통해 외부자-내부자, 학생-교사, 대상-주체 사이를 오가며 실습 기관 내 다른 주체들뿐 아니라 자신과 지속적으로 관계를 맺어가고 재형성해가는 역동적인 과정을 보여주고 있다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the process in which pre-service teachers actively constructed and reconstructed their identity in a relational context of child care practicum. For this purpose, two pre-service teachers’ daily experience, events, thoughts and behaviors in a natural setting of one child care center were observed during the entire practicum period. In addition to participant observation, qualitative data were collected from the pre-service teachers’ reflective journal writing, daily records of practicum, and conversation with preservice teachers. The analysis process focused on the pre-service teachers’ relations, emotions, conflicts, and the meanings that the pre-service teachers themselves gave to their experiences. The analysis of qualitative data revealed the following three main themes: 1) outsider-insider: “before someone called my name”; 2) facing myself: student-teacher; and 3) a point inflection in the process of becoming a teacher: object-subject. The findings of this study presented the dynamics of the identity construction process in which the pre-service teachers formed and reformed the relationships with themselves and others at a practicum site while moving between outsider-insider, student-teacher, and subject-object.
