미적 경험을 활용한 과학 수업에서 중학생의 상상력과 과학의 심미성 탐색

Exploring the Imagination and Aesthetics of Science in Middle School Students in Science Class using Aesthetic Experience

본 연구에서는 학생의 미적 경험을 강조한 수업을 개발하고 이 수업에 참여한 중학생들의 과학적 상상력의 변화 및 특성을 탐색하고 학생들이 인식한 과학의 심미성을 탐색하였다. 이를 위하여 이전 연구에서 수행한 교사들의 과학의 심미성과 미적 경험 수업에 대한 인식을 기반으로 수업 전략을 수립하였다. 이를 바탕으로 정규 수업 프로그램을 개발하고 경기도 소재 중학생 97명에게 16차시 수업을 진행하였다. 이전에 개발한 과학적 상상력 도구를 수정하여 수업 전후에 실시한 상상력 검사에서 유의한 상상력 변화를 확인하였고 하위요소인 정서적 이해에서 여학생에 비해 남학생이 유의하게 더 큰 폭의 향상을 가져왔다. 수업 후 학생들이 작성한 총 280회의 온라인 자유 게시글을 통해 수업에서 학생들이 경험한 상상력의 특성과 학생들이 인식한 과학의 심미성의 특성을 찾았다. 수업 프로그램의 내용과 활동에 따라 다르지만, 상상력은 정서적 이해와 연관성 발견이, 과학의 심미성은 외적형식미와 상호작용에 내재된 감정이 학생들에게 두드러지게 나타나는 특성을 보였다. 이 수업은 학생들에게 상상력을 자극하고 과학의 심미성을 통한 긍정적인 과학에 대한 태도를 보이고 있어 현장에 적극 활용할 필요성이 있다.

In this study, the researchers developed a course that emphasized the aesthetic experience of students, explored the changes and characteristics of the scientific imagination of middle school students who participated in this class, and explored the aesthetics of science perceived by the students. To this end, teaching strategies were established based on the teachers perceptions of the aesthetics of science and aesthetic experience classes conducted in the previous study. Based on this, a regular class program was developed and 16 classes were conducted for 97 middle school students in Gyeonggi-do. By modifying the previously developed imagination tools, significant changes in imagination were confirmed in the imagination test conducted before and after the class. Through a total of 280 free online postings written by students after class, the characteristics of imagination experienced by students in class and characteristics of aesthetics of science perceived by students were defined. Although it differs according to the contents and activities of the class program, the findings showed that imagination was connected to emotional understanding and the aesthetics of science helped students showed the external beauty of style and the emotions inherent in interaction.
