Research on Pacifistic Mission Theology of John Yoder

평화주의를 대변하고 대표하는 신학자로 알려진 존 요더는 선교사이고 선교신 학자이다. 그의 선교 신학은 콘스탄틴주의적 선교에 대한 강력한 비판이다. 기존의 선교의 문제점 중 하나는 무력과 재력에 기초한 것이다. 그리고 선교사의 문화를 우등한 것으로 간주하고 자신의 문화를 기독교적인 것으로 강요한다. 그러나 요더 는 예수 그리스도의 주되심이라는 정통적인 신앙 고백을 선교에 철저하게 적용하 려 한다. 그는 기독교 신앙과 선교사의 문화를 구별해야 한다고 주장한다. 그래서 그는 현지 문화 속으로 철저히 낮아지는 육화의 선교, 그리고 그들을 동등한 대화 상대자로서 인정하는 평화주의적 선교를 지향한다. 이는 한국 선교에 대한 반성을 촉구하는 동시에 하나의 대안을 제시한다.

Known as an advocator and a representative of pacifism, John Yoder was a missionary and missionary theologian. His theology of mission is a strong critique of Constantinian mission. One of the problems of existing missionary work is that it was based on force and wealth. The culture of missionaries was also assumed as supreme and therefore it forces others to be christianized. Yoder, however, asserts the orthodox confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ to mission. He insists on the distinction between Christian faith and missionary culture. According to him, we should aim for the Incarnating mission, through which we lower ourselves into the local culture, and the Pacifistic mission that treats others as equal partners. This is to urge reflection on the Korean mission and at the same time offer one alternative.
