발달장애인의 도전행동과 성인 비장애 형제의 동반낙인감의 관계: 성인 비장애 형제의 장애인에 대한 태도의 매개효과

The relationship between the challenging behaviors of siblings with developmental disabilities and the affiliate stigma of their siblings without disabilities in adulthood : the mediating effect of attitudes toward persons with disabilities

본 연구의 목적은 발달장애인의 도전행동과 성인 비장애 형제의 동반낙인감의 관계에서 성인 비장애 형제의 장애인에 대한 태도의 매개효과를 확인하는 데 있다. 연구대상자는 서울시에 거주하는 장애인 가족 내 발달장애인의 성인 비장애 자녀 164명이며, 자료수집은 오프라인 설문조사로 이루어졌다. 연구결과, 성인 비장애 형제의 장애인에 대한 태도는 발달장애인의 도전행동과 성인 비장애 형제의 동반낙인감의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 발달장애인의 도전행동은 비장애 형제의 동반낙인감에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 동시에 비장애 형제의 장애인에 대한 부정적인 태도를 통해 동반낙인감에 정적인 영향을 미치기도 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 비장애 형제에 대한 장애인식 교육, 동반낙인감 개입, 부모교육, 통합교육환경에서 비장애 형제의 긍정적 경험 지원, 자조 모임 지원 등의 실천이 필요함을 제시하였다.

The aim of this study is to examine the mediating effect of the attitudes of toward persons with disabilities(ATD) among adult siblings without disabilities in the relationship between the challenging behaviors(CB) of siblings with developmental disabilities(DD) and affiliate stigma(AS) of their siblings. Participants are 164 siblings without disabilities in adulthood in Seoul. Data were collected from the “2020 Study on Psychosocial problems for Adult Siblings without Disabilities” conducted by Yonsei University and were analyzed using Process Macro. The results show that the ATD of siblings have a partial mediation effect in the relationship between the CB of siblings with DD and AS of their siblings. In other words, it was found that the CB of siblings with DD had a positive effect on the AS of their siblings, and at the same time had a positive effect on AS through the negative ATD. We suggest that policies and programs including perspective of the disability studies, intervening AS with them as well as perspective of social model to the CB, parental education, helping create positive experiences in integrated education, and support for self-help groups.
