본 연구에서는 최근 다양한 분야에서 새롭게 시도되고 있는 연구방법인 예술기반 연구가 미술심리치료학과 어떠 한 연관성을 가지며, 미술심리치료학에서 새로운 방법론으로 적용 가능성과 활용에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 예술기반 연구와 미술심리치료학에 대한 문헌을 고찰하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술심리치료와 예술 기반 연구의 예술작업은 유사한 특성을 가지고 있으며 이는 예술기반 연구가 미술심리치료학의 특수성을 담아낼 수 있는 연구방법으로 가능성을 가진다. 둘째, 예술기반 연구는 미술심리치료의 특수성인 시각언어, 즉 이미지를 담아내며 이는 미술심리치료의 임상을 설명하기 위한 방법으로 활용될 수 있다. 셋째, 미술심리치료사는 질적연 구와 유사하면서도 예술을 사용한다는 특성을 지닌 예술기반 연구에서 연구자로서 강점을 가진다. 본 연구를 통 해 예술기반 연구는 미술심리치료학의 특수성과 고유성을 드러내며 양적 연구를 통해 밝히지 못한 미술심리치료 학의 본질을 드러내는데 기여할 수 있는 연구방법으로 활용 가능성이 있음을 시사하는데 의의가 있다.
In this study, the new research method, art-based research, has some relevance in the field of art psychotherapy, and the possibility and application of art psychotherapy in art psychotherapy are investigated. Therefore, the literature on art-based research and art psychotherapy is studied. The results are as follows. First, art work of art psychotherapy and art-based research have similar characteristics, and this has the potential as a research method that allows art-based research to contain the specificity of art psychotherapy. Second, art-based research contains visual language, that is, an image, which is the specificity of art psychotherapy, which can be used as a method to explain the clinical practice of art psychotherapy. Third, art psychotherapists have strengths as researchers in art-based research that is similar to qualitative research and uses art. Through this study, it is meaningful to suggest that art-based research has the potential to be used as a research method that can contribute to revealing the specificity and uniqueness of art psychotherapy and revealing the essence of art psychotherapy that has not been revealed through quantitative research.
