사교육 실천의 아비투스에 관한 질적 메타분석

A Qualitative meta synthesis on habitus of practice of shadow education

본 연구는 주거지 분화와 계층 재생산 등의 사회경제적 문제를 유발하고 있는 사교육 실천이 사교육 경감 대책이라는 정책적 노력에도 불구하고 줄어들지 않는 현상의 구조적 원인을 탐구하기 위해 수행되었다. 실천주체인 어머니의 아비투스에 구조화된 사회구조를 밝히기 위해, 실천 주체의 담론을 분석하는 질적 연구의 결과들을 종합하는 질적 메타분석의 방법을 사용하였다. 질적 메타분석 결과, 사교육 실천의 아비투스에 구조화된 사회구조는 학벌주의, 가부장주의, 자본주의의 세 가지로 드러났으며, 그 중 학벌주의는 무성적으로(ungendered), 가부장주의는 성별화되어 무계층적으로(gendered, unclassified), 자본주의는 계층적으로 성별화되어(gendered, classified) 아비투스화되었다. 또한 각 구조들이 서로 중첩되면서 아비투스화하였다는 것을 발견하였다. 학벌주의는 사교육장과 공교육장의 가장 기본적인 구조로서, 대학을 목적으로 한 사교육 실천, 학령별 사교육 실천, 기형적 공교육을 설명한다. 이러한 학벌주의와 가부장주의가 중첩된 영역에서 모성 아비투스가 내재화되었으며, 모성 아비투스는 계층을 초월하여 모든 어머니들에게서 나타나는 동질적인 사교육 실천을 설명해주었다. 또한 학벌주의, 가부장주의, 자본주의가 모두 중첩된 영역에서는 모성 아비투스가 계층화되어 중산층전업어머니 아비투스가 형성되었으며, 중산층전업어머니 아비투스는 어머니의 자본에 따라 차별적인 사교육 실천을 설명해주었다. 본 연구는 질적 메타분석을 통해 사교육 실천의 구조적 원인에 해당하는 바로 그 ‘구조’를 밝힘과 동시에, 구조가 실천을 유발하는 메커니즘으로 아비투스 개념을 분석에 적용했다는 점에서, 방법론뿐만 아니라 이론적으로도 개별 질적 연구결과들을 뛰어넘는 종합적 설명을 시도했다는 데 그 의미가 있다.

This articles explore the structural reasons why the shadow education increases despite of political endeavors to reduce it. The structures are structured in the habitus of mother, the practical subject. To reveal the habitus, methodologically, we use the qualitative meta-synthesis which synthesize the findings of qualitative research which analyze the discourses of practical subjects. The results indicate the social structures structured in habitus consist of academic cliquism, patriarchism, capitalism. Academic cliquism habitus is ungendered, motherhood habitus is gendered but unclassified. middle-class-full-time mother habitus is gendered and classified. Also, we discover the structures was structured in habitus simultaneously, not separately. Academic cliquism is the most basic structure in the educational field. It explains the practices of shadow education for good university, abnormal educational practices in the public educational field. In the area of patriarchism overlapped with academic cliquism, we can see motherhood habitus which explains similar practices from all the mothers. In the area of capitalism overlapped with academic cliquism and patriarchism, we can see middle-class-full-time mother habitus which explains classified practices. This study reveals the very ‘structures’ of structural reasons of the shadow education. Also the use of the concept of habitus enables methodological and theoretical synthesis beyond individual qualitative findings.
