한국 대학생들의 자기 주도 영어 쓰기 수정 활동 경험 연구

A Study on the Experiences of Self-directed Revision Activity with Korean College English Learners’First Drafts through Youtube Comments Reading and Peer Feedback

본 연구는 유튜브 댓글 읽기와 동료 피드백을 활용한 한국 대학생의 자기주도적 영어 쓰기 수정 활동 경험을 질적 연구방법을 통해 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구의 참가자는 강원도에 위치한 C 대학에서 교과목 대학영어를 수강하는 8명의 신입생이다. 자료수집을 위해 반구조화된 질문으로 심층면담을 진행하였고, 수집된 자료는 현상학적인 연구방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 유튜브 댓글 읽기에서 의미 있는 진술 7개, 주제묶음 3개, 동료 피드백 활용에서 의미 있는 진술 7개, 주제묶음 4개, 실험 후 태도 변화에서 의미 있는 진술 2개와 주제묶음 1개를 도출해 내었다. 연구결과를 정리해 보면 다음과 같다. 먼저 참여자들은 유튜브 댓글 읽기가 수정에 미치는 영향으로 자기 주도적 학습능력의 잠재성, 정확성에서 유창성으로의 변화, 댓글 수준의 문제점을 언급했다. 둘째, 동료피드백이 수정에 미치는 영향으로 영어 능력 이상의 소득, 동료의 편안함, 훈련의 이점, 비전문가로서의 한계를 지적하였다. 셋째, 실험 후 참가자들은 완전한 글쓰기와 독자를 고려한 글쓰기를 통해 성숙한 작가가 되어가고 있음을 인식하고 있었다. 마지막으로 대학생들의 영어 쓰기 역량의 질 강화를 위해 유튜브 댓글 읽기를 적용하려는 교사들의 충분한 검토와 정확성과 유창성 사이의 간극을 메우려는 교육정책입안자들의 노력 그리고 현장에서 유튜브 활용과 같은 다각적인 교수 매체 개발을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the experiences of Korean college students’ self-directed English writing revision activities using reading YouTube comments and peer feedback through a qualitative research method. The participants of the study were eight freshmen taking college English at University C located in Gangwon-do. For data collection, in-depth interviews were conducted with semi-structured questions, and the collected data were analyzed through a universal qualitative analysis method. As a result of the analysis, 7 meaningful statements and 3 themes were derived from reading YouTube comments, 7 meaningful statements and 4 themes from using peer feedback, and 2 meaningful statements and 1 theme were derived from attitude change after the experiment. The research results are as follows. First, the participants mentioned that the potential of self-directed learning competency, progress from accuracy to fluency, and problems at the level of comments were mentioned as the effect of reading YouTube comments on revision. Second, as the effects of peer feedback on revision, incomes over English ability, comfort of the same level, benefits of training, and limitations of non-professionals were pointed out. Third, after the experiment, the participants recognized that they were becoming mature writers through writing that considered complete writing and readers. Finally, the paper concludes with suggestions based on the results of the study.
