한국과 중국, 일본 3국이 오래된 역사적 관계를 청산하고 상호 인정과 존중, 조화와 협력으로 한반도 평화를 중심한 동아시아 평화, 나아가 평화로운 세계질서를 구축하는 전환점을 만들 수 있을 것인가? 본 연구는 이러한 의문에 답하기 위해 세계평화통일가정연합의 동아시아 평화에 대한 이해와 그 실천을 탐구해보고자 하였다. 세계평화통일가정연합은 그리스도교 기반 신종교로서 한국 신종교의 전통과 융합을 통해 한반도 평화를 중심으로 동아시아 평화를 이해하고 이를 위한 국제적인 연대와 다양한 실천들을 경주해 왔다. 이를 통해 종교가 선교목적을 넘어 평화를 증진하기 위해 가치관을 제공하고 교육, 시민 간 교류, 문화교류 등 다양한 실천과 인적․물적 자원을 제공할 수 있다는 가능성을 보여주었다. 나아가 신냉전시대의 위기를 넘어 평화로운 동아시아를 구축하기 위해서는 종교계가 평화를 위한 연대의 구심점으로서 역할을 담당해야 함을 제시하였다.
Can Korea, Japan, and China make for East Asia peace and turning point for peaceful world order through past liquidation with mutual cooperation, respect and recognition between three nations centered on peace of Korean Peninsula? This study has focused to reply to question as above and to research on understanding and practical activities for peace of East Asia of Family Federation for World peace and unification. FFWPU is a newly risen religion based on christ church through tradition and integration of new religion in Korea. And it has been practiced for international solidarity for East Asia peace centered on peace of Korean Peninsula. Through various activities, FFWPU demonstrated the possibility that religion can provide values to promote peace beyond missionary purposes and provide diverse practices and human and physical resources such as education, civic. And FFWPYU has suggested role for solidarity as pivot to build for peaceful East Asia beyond crisis of new cold-war.
