『법구경』을 통한 인성함양의 방향 모색

Exploring for Ways to Build Character Through Dhammapada: Targeting Early Childhood Teachers

본 연구의 목적은 『법구경』을 통해 영유아교사를 위한 인성함양의 방향을 모색하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 먼저 시대와 종교를 초월하여 인류의 보편적인 지혜가 담긴 격언으로써 전 세계 사람들에게 인성의 지침서로 알려진 『법구경(法句經, Dhammapada)』의 이론적 배경을 살펴보았다. 그리고 문헌 분석을 위해 전재성의 『법구경-담마파다』를 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 크게 2차로 나누어 수행한 방법을 통해 분석 절차를 거쳐 다음과 같은 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 평정심을 유지하는 것으로써 매일 자기성찰을 통해 어디에도 흔들림 없는 자신의 수호자로서 교사이다. 둘째, 마음의 유연성을 기르는 것으로써 연기적 통찰을 통해 참사람의 향기를 누구에게나 나눠 줄 수 있는 교사이다. 영유아교사를 위한 인성함양의 핵심은 자신 및 타인에 대한 자비심 실천에 초점을 둔다. 이러한 영유아교사 인성함양을 위한 불교적 접근은 더 나은 미래사회를 구현하기 위한 새로운 패러다임으로써 그 방향성을 제시하는데 의의를 가진다.

This study was conducted to explore for ways in which early childhood teachers could build character through Dhammapada. To this end, the theoretical background behind Dhammapada, a global guide on character that contains humanity’s universal wisdom and transcends generations and religions, was explored. Next, for literature review, Dhammapada by Jeon Jae-seong was examined. Through a two-tiered analysis, the following conclusion was drawn. First, by maintaining composure, one must practice examine self everyday, becoming a teacher who is also an unyielding guardian of self. Second, by nurturing flexibility in the heart, and through histrionic insight, a teacher must be able to share with anyone the scent of true love. The direction for early childhood teachers to build character should be focused on implementing mercy for oneself and others. Such a Buddhist approach to build character in early childhood teachers is a paradigm for bringing about a better future, and has meaning in suggesting such a directionality.
