양극화 이슈가 사회 전 역에 걸쳐 문제가 되고 있다. 양극화는 사회적 갈등과 분열을 내포하 고 있으며 사회 불평등을 심화시키는 원인이기 때문이다. 이 연구의 목적은 양극화 현상에 대한 가톨릭 사회교리의 가르침을 탐구하고, 양극화라는 상황에서 가톨릭 교육자의 역할을 제안하는 것 이다. 연구의 문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양극화 현상이란 무엇이며, 그 원인은 무엇인가? 둘째, 양 극화라는 사회 문제에 대한 가톨릭 사회교리의 가르침은 무엇인가? 셋째, 가톨릭 사회교리에 바탕 을 둔 가톨릭 교육자의 역할은 무엇인가? 연구 방법론은 문헌연구로서 관련되는 선행연구와 가톨 릭 사회교리 문헌 분석으로 진행하다. 가톨릭 사회교리 문헌에서 제시하는 양극화 원인은 배척의 경제, 돈의 우상화, 지배적인 금융시 스템, 불평등을 심화하는 폭력성과 문화적 도전들이었다. 양극화 현상을 극복하기 위한 가톨릭 교 육자의 역할로 제안하는 것은 가톨릭 사회관, 연대성, 공동선에 대한 이해를 심화시키는 것이고, 자기 초월적 대화 실천, 친교의 교육학 확대, 일치를 위한 연대, 가톨릭교육의 정체성 확립, 책임 감에 대한 교육의 실천이다.
The issue of polarization has become more serious across society. Polarization involves social conflicts and deepens social inequality. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Catholic Social Teaching about polarization and suggest the role of Catholic education in the polarized society. The questions of the research are as follows. First, what is the meaning of the polarization phenomena and what are the causes of the polarization? Second, what are the suggestions of the Catholic Social Teaching about polarization? Third, what are the Catholic educators’s role based on the Catholic Social Teaching? This research has reviewed the Catholic Social Teaching documents and previous research literature. The causes of the polarization are economy of exclusion, idolatry of money, financial system which rules rather than serves human, inequality which spawns violence, and cultural challenges. To overcome the polarization, Catholic educators need to understand and try to practice as follows; the Catholic’s view about the society, the value of justice, solidarity, and the common good. Based on the Catholic Social Teaching, Catholic educators are encouraged to practice dialogues for self-transcendence, to further practice of pedagogy of communion, to seek for unity, to deepen the identity of Catholic education, and active education toward sense of responsibility.
