가톨릭 교회의 청소년 사목과 교회의 권위

The Youth Ministry and the Church Authority in the Catholic Church

본 연구는 가톨릭 교회의 청소년 사목과 교회의 관계에 대해 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 두 가지 하위 연구목적을 두었다. 첫째는 가톨릭 청소년 사목에 관한 선행연구들을 비판적으로 분석하는 가운데 청소년 사목에 관한 보다 포괄적ㆍ통합적 정의를 규정하고, 청소년 사목의 위기의 원인들과 해결 전략들을 유형화하는 것이었다. 둘째는 교회의 권위의 개념을 종교사회학적인 관점에서 고찰하는 가운데 진정한 교회의 권위의 정의를 규정하고, 특별히 교회의 청소년 사목의 활성화를 위한 진정한 교회 권위의 역할에 대해 제안을 하는 것이었다. 이런 고찰을 통해 본 연구는 청소년 사목을 교회의 부차적인 영역이 아니라 교회의 본질적인 4대 기능인 복음선교, 전례, 친교, 봉사 안에 청소년의 관점을 통합하는 과정으로 규정하고, 현 청소년 사목의 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 관련 프로그램들 개발하고 활성화하는 일뿐 아니라 전체 조직의 차원에서 포괄적 전략을 구축하는 것이 중요함을 밝혔다. 또한 진정한 교회의 권력은 ‘봉사하는’ 권위로서, 특별히 교회의 권위가 청소년 사목의 비전을 명확히 설정하고 효율적인 조직을 구성하며, 긍정적으로 자신의 권력을 활용할 때 더욱 성장할 수 있음을 제안하였다.

This study studied on the relationship between the youth ministry and the Church authority in the Catholic Church in Korea. For such a main purpose of the study, it had two sub-purposes to pursue further. First, it figured out its definition, reasons for crises, and strategies for the youth ministry of the Catholic Church, based upon critical review on the previous studies relevant to the subject. Second, it defined the concepts and roles of ‘true’ church authority that vitalize youth ministry by utilizing critical perspectives of religious sociology. From the result of the study, it reached to the more inclusive definition of the youth ministry like as, “Youth ministry is a process that collaborates the perspective of ‘youth’ into the Church’s basic functions, such as evangelization, liturgy, communion, and service.” Then, it underscored the importance of organizational strategies as well as of program strategies for successful youth ministry. Finally, it stressed that ‘true’ church authority should equip with the ‘service’ perspective enough to establish a clear vision statement, efficient organization, and positive utilization of its power for fruitful youth ministry.
