Reception and Solution of Desire in the Perspective of Shamanism

샤머니즘은 한국에서 기복신앙을 대표하는 종교현상으로 세간에 흔히 알려져 있다. 신령에게 정성을 들이고, 복을 구하는 기제(mechanism)를 가지고 있다는 면에서 샤머니즘의 세계는 인간적 욕구 내지 욕망이 적나라하게 표출되는 장이라는 인식이 널리 퍼져있기도 하다. 그 중에서도 ‘재수굿’은 샤머니즘 신앙체계의 소위 “기복적인” 내용을 잘 표현하는 의례라고 할 수 있다. 복을 빌고, 금전, 건강, 장수를 구하기 위한 좋은 운수를 기원하는 의례이다. 세상 사람들이 바라는 구체적인 내용 또는 대상이 대체적으로 그러한 요소들로 이루어지고 있다. 본고에서는 재수굿에 초점을 맞추어서 우선, 샤머니즘에서 드러나는 욕구/욕망의 축원과 성취[맞이], 그리고 욕구/욕망 성취의 걸림돌에 대한 예방과 제거[풀이]가 어떠한 내용으로 이루어지는지 살펴본다. 그 다음으로는, 이렇게 추구해야 할 목표를 실현하고 현실적인 장애를 극복해가는 과정으로 샤머니즘 의례[놀이]에서 드러나는 교육적 의미는 무엇인지를 찾아보기로 한다. 공인 경전이 없는 민중종교로서 샤머니즘의 사상이나 교리 내용, 신앙실천의 방안 등을 알아보기 위한 방법으로, 의례(儀禮) 현장에서 구송된 무가, 사설, 공수, 축원, 덕담의 내용들을 분석한다.

There are two main purposes of this article: the description of desire in shamanistic world and the educational persuasion process of shamanistic ritual. First, this article explains how to receive and solve “desire” in shamanistic world[reception of good wish] with analysis how to prevent and remove obstacles against the desire, especially focusing on chaesu-kut(ritual for good fortune). Second, shamanistic rituals[ritual play as effective pray] as a transition by overcoming obstacles and realizing their goals can be considered as effective educational persuasion process. Generally, Shamanism is known as a representative religion for fortune-seeking belief in Korea. It is wide spread for people to recognize that the world of shamanism is a space where humane wish or desire is expressed plainly because they devote sacrifice to the divinities and seek fortune for themselves. There are a lot of shmanistic rituals, but chaesu-kut can be told as a remarkable ritual that expresses the “fortune-seeking” content in shamanistic belief system. In this ritual, chaesu-kut, people pray commonly for good fortune, a lot of money, health and longevity. Moreover, it might be said that the concrete contents what common people want consist more or less of these elements. Shamanism is famous as a religion without official canon. Hence, we have to look up shamans songs, story-telling, oracles, and benediction etc. in order to obtain shamanistic thoughts, dogmatic contents, and the religious practice.
