한국 중등학교의 종교교사 자격에 관한 연구

A Study on the Qualification of Religious Teacher in Korean Public Education

이 논문은 종교교사의 자격을 보다 명료화함으로써 제7차 종교 교육과정의 실천을 위한 종교교사의 선발 기준을 개발하는데 그 연구의 목적이 있다. 좀 더 구체적으로 서술하면, 본 논문은 세가지의 문제를 탐구하였다. 첫째, 한국 중등학교 종교교사의 자격기준을 제시하는데 있어서 먼저 고려해야하는 몇 가지 전제들과 어려움들을 살펴보았다. 특히 공교육에서 이루어지는 종교교육의 특성을 중심으로 종교교사 선발의 조건들을 고찰하였다. 둘째, 정부에서 제시하는 ‘신규교사의 자질과 능력에 관한 일반기준안’을 검토하고, 그 토대 위에서 일반교사와 달리 종교교사만이 갖고 있는 특수성과 함께 종교교사의 자격을 위한 기본적인 원칙을 살펴보았다. 그 원칙은 종교교사의 종교교육학적 전문성, 종교교사의 종교내용학적 전문성, 그리고 종교교사의 인격적인 측면으로서의 영성의 조화이다. 셋째, 앞에서 제시한 종교교사 자격을 위한 기본 원칙을 준거로 하여, 종교교사 자격의 일반기준 20개와 또 그에 따른 세부기준을 각각 제시하였다.

The aim of this article is to clarify the qualification of religious teacher so that he or she may appropriately put the religious education into practice in public education. In details, this article deals with three issues as followings. First of all, prior to developing qualification of religious teacher, several preconditions that religious education in Korean public education seriously needed to be considered have been investigated. For example, it is about relationship public school and private school for religious education even though all schools including private school in Korea have to keep in mind to follow the 7th National Religious Curriculum, which is based on the “education about religion” rather than “education of religion.” Second, the article suggests three fundamental guidelines of developing the professional qualification of religious teacher like this: 1) educational qualification of religious teacher; 2) qualification of the religious studies of religious teacher; 3) qualification of spirituality or religiosity of religious teacher. Finally, according to the recommendation of Ministry of Education of Korea as for basic qualification of secondary school teacher, the article tried not only to develop the 20 propositions as the general standard of religious teacher, but also to give concrete forms each general standard of religious teacher into three specific standard of religious teacher.
