한국어와 일본어의 의문문 억양 대조 연구

A Contrastive Study on the Intonation of Korean and Japanese Interrogative Sentences

이 연구는 한국어와 일본어 의문문에 나타나는 억양의 실현 양상과 특징을 음향음성학적 방법을 통해 대조·분석하여 억양의 유형화 연구와 억양 교육 연구의 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 한국어와 일본어 모어 화자를 대상으로 한국어 의문문과 일본어 의문문의 억양 패턴, 음역, 길이, 기울기의 면에서 어떠한 대조적 특징이 있는지를 고찰하였다. 실험 분석 결과, 한국어와 일본어 의문문은 모든 의문문의 유형에서 억양 패턴이 상이하게 나타났다. 또 음길이와 음높이, 기울기에서도 유의한 차이를 보였는데, 한국어가 일본어보다 음역과 기울기가 크고, 일본어는 한국어보다 음길이가 더 긴 것으로 나타났다. 즉 한국어의 억양이 일본어의 억양보다 그 패턴이 다양하고 억양 곡선의 변화폭과 음높이의 변화폭이 더 크다는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 객관적 데이터를 기반으로 한 실증적인 연구는 한국어의 억양 유형 연구와 일본어와의 억양 대조 연구에 기초적인 자료가 될 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the study of intonation typification and intonation education by comparing and analyzing aspect and characteristics of intonation in Korean and Japanese interrogative sentences through acoustic phonetic methods. In order to achives such purpose, this study examined the contrasting characteristics of Korean and Japanese native speakers in terms of intonation patterns, pitch range, duration, and pitch slope of Korean interrogative sentences and corresponding Japanese interrogative sentences. As a result of experimental analysis, Korean and Japanese interrogative sentences showed different intonation patterns in all types of interrogative sentences. In addition, there were significant differences in duration, pitch range and pitch slope, with Korean having a larger pitch range and pitch slope than Japanese. And Japanese had a longer duration than Korean. In other words, it was confirmed that the pattern of the Korean intonation was more diverse than that of the Japanese intonation, and the pitch range of change in the intonation curve and pitch was greater. Empirical study based on these objective data will be basic data for study intonation typification in Korean and contrasting intonation with Japanese.
