Since 2020, the Ministry of Environment has announced plans to introduce levy on NOx, which is the cause of fine dust and ozone generation, and to expand the nationwide regulation on the total amount of air pollutants currently confined to the metropolitan area. Therefore, this study aims to minimize the total amount of NOx emission through the low NOx combustion optimization technology for the 2MW large burner used in the steelmaking process heating furnace. The primary flow rate of the burner is injected into the fuel / center air / primary air through the swirl, and the secondary flow is injected with air. CFD analysis showed that the internal recirculation increased as the ratio of secondary air increased, and the temperature of the flame was widely distributed. As a result, the local high-temperature region was reduced and the NOx reduction effect was obtained.
