The comparison study on the performance of Co based catalysts using different promoters (La, Pr, and Zr) in the HTS reaction

In the study, We compared the effect of Promoter on catalyst performance by adding various Promoter (La, Pr, Zr) in Co-CeO2 catalyst for high temperature shift(HTS: CO + H2O → CO2 + H2) reaction. The promoted Co-CeO2 catalysts by co-precipitation method. The physicochemical properties of the prepared catalysts are analyzed by BET, XRD, and TPR. In addition, the HTS reaction was carried out at a very high gas hourly space velocity (GHSV = 286,000 h-1) to evaluate the catalyst performance. Among the prepared catalysts, Zr promoted Co-CeO2 catalyst exhibits the highest CO conversion (XCO = 82.8% at 500 oC). This result is mainly due to small CeO2 crystallite size, high BET surface area.
