통일교종립학교의 종교 교과서 분석과 평가

A Study on Textbooks for Religious Educationin Unification Church

이 논문은 통일교의 고등학교용 종교 교과서 교과서를 분석한 것이다. 먼저, 교과서를 제7차 종교 교육과정과 비교하면서 교육의 목표와 내용 및 교수ㆍ학습의 방법을 분석하였다. 다음으로 발달이론의 관점에서 종교 교과서에 담겨있는 내용이 고등학생에게 적합한 것인지 검토하였다. 마지막으로 학생에게 더 친밀하게 다가서는 교과서가 될 수 있는 방안들을 찾아보았다. 통일교의 종교 교과서는 종교학적 종교교육과 신앙적 종교교육의 양면을 병행하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 종교 교과서의 종교일반에 대한 서술에는 다분히 유일신 신앙적 사고와 통일교적 관점이 기반을 이루고 있음을 부정할 수 없다. 통일교의 종교 교과서에는 교육목표가 명확하게 드러나 있지 않고 단원의 교육목표에 부합되지 못하는 서술 내용도 발견된다. 현행 교과서의 내용은 발달이론의 측면에서 고등학생이 이해하기에 적합한 수준을 유지하고 있으나 교수ㆍ학습의 방법 면에서는 보완이 필요하다. 7차 종교 교육과정이 제안하는 내용은 종교학개론에 가깝다. 통일교의 학교 종교교육이 7차 종교 교육과정의 범위와 수준에 부합하려 한다면 추상적인 종교적 지식을 구체적인 지식이 될 수 있도록 교과서의 편찬과 집필 과정에서 더욱 세심한 노력을 해야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the textbooks which are used for religious education in Unification Church secondary schools. Actually the author participated in the process of making the textbooks. First, I explored aims and contents, teaching-learning methods of the textbooks in comparison with the 7th National Religious Curriculum. Second, I investigated the suitability of the textbooks to secondary school students in the light of developmental theories. Finally, I searched the possibility of more active textbooks. Unification Church secondary schools combine ‘education about religion’ (religious education in the science of religion) and ‘education of religion’ (dogmatic religious education). However, it can be said that the contents about world religions and Korean religions in the textbooks are described on the view points of monotheism and Unification Church. According to my analyzing the textbooks, the aims of religious education are not clear in some units and the contents of some units are not suitable to the educational aims. The level of the textbooks are suitable to secondary school students in the light of developmental theories. However, the textbooks need various teaching-learning methods. The 7th National Religious Curriculum stressed ‘education about religion’ more than ‘education of religion’. If Unification Church secondary schools wants to fit with the scope and the level of the 7th National Religious Curriculum, they shall make an effort particularly to develop more active textbooks.
