종교교육에서 충만한 신앙의 관점으로 양육하게 하는 것은 무엇인가?가톨릭 학교의 지침과 종교교재는 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 가톨릭 학교에 관한 교육지침은 종교교재가 지녀야 할 기본 방향을 제시하고 있을 뿐만이 아니라 신앙인으로 양육해야 할 것을 제시하고 있다. 그러므로 무엇보다 먼저 가톨릭 학교의 지침이 무엇인지 명확히 알아야 필요가 있다.본 논문에서는 가톨릭 학교의 중요성을 인식하고 ‘가톨릭 교육’ 및 ‘가톨릭 학교’에 관한 문헌들을 살펴보면서 ‘가톨릭 학교에 관한 지침’을 주로 고찰하게 된다. 가톨릭 학교에 관한 주요 지침을 크게 다섯 가지로 제시한다. 즉 첫째, 그리스도께 토대를 둔 전인교육, 둘째, 가톨릭 학교의 교회적 그리고 문화적 독자성, 셋째, 가톨릭 학교의 교육적 사명(가톨릭적 교육 목적의 실현), 넷째, 사회에 대한 봉사, 다섯째, 학교 내에 자유와 사랑 그리고 복음적 정신이 충만한 공동체 형성에 두고 있다.우리나라에서의 가톨릭 종교교재에 대한 것은 1958년을 시작으로 2002년까지 제작된 내용을 수록하고 있다. 초창기 때의 종교교재는 교리 중심적이고 주지적인 경향이 주로 나타나고 있다. 현재 종교교재로 사용하고 있는 《중학교 종교》(2002년에 출판)와 《고등학교 종교》(2002년에 출판)는 그 내용이 좀 어렵다는 지적을 받고 있다. 또한 종교교재의 내용이 일상생활에서 적용되고 활용될 수 있느냐하는 문제가 제기되고 있다. 따라서 앞으로 종교교재를 새로 만든다면 교육 현장의 생생한 소리를 듣고 학생들에게 접목될 수 있는 교육 내용과 방법을 동원해야 할 것이다. 왜냐하면 교과 내용이 아무리 훌륭하더라도 교육 현장에서의 효용성 여부에는 여러 가지 변인이 있기 때문이다. 교과 내용을 배우는 학생들이 그 교과 내용에 관심이 없다거나 가치부여를 하지 않는다면 전인교육에 지장을 초래하기 쉽다. 그러므로 종교교육의 특징에 부합하는 교수-학습 분위기를 조성해야 할 것을 설명하고 있다. 이는 학습자가 종교교육에 대한 내용을 알고, 깨닫고, 실현할 수 있는 교육 분위기 형성으로 삶의 변화를 추구하고 있다.

What nourish the faith-filled vision this is so necessary for religious education? There is nothing new in these questions but they do seem to take on a added urgency today with the particular demands of our times and the challenges of today s apostolate in religious education. The entire work of the religious educator has to be situated in the context of faith for above all we are engaged in a ministry of faith. School education is an art, and an especially difficult one. The task of religious education is really a matter of public emergency what does a great deal for virtue is love. Because the basic hindrance to religious life is egoism and the chief yearning of religious life liberation from one self, and only love, being the gift of oneself is able to remove this hindrance and bring this yearning to fulfillment. Many things are good in the emphasis on action for life consists of action. But action aim at on object, a determining end without which they lose direction and vitality. A guidance principle of Catholic school aims at the formation of the human person in the pursuit of his ultimate end and of the good of the societies of which, as man, he is member, and in whose obligations, as an adult, he will share.
