정치와 기독교적 종교교육

Politics and Christian Religious Education

이 논문은 정치와 기독교적 종교교육과의 관계를 살펴본 것이다. 먼저 이 논문은 암시적으로 두 가지의 기본적 전제를 가지고 시작한다. 첫째, 모든 종교는 정치적 조직과 구조 속에 놓여 있다는 것과, 그러므로 둘째, 종교는 가치중립적인 위치가 아니라 정치적이라는 입장이다. 따라서 어떤 경우에 있어서도 종교는 정치적 상황과는 분리해서 생각할 수 없으며, 인간의 문제, 곧 정치, 경제, 혹은 사회 문화적으로 인권침해나 비인간화의 문제들을 외면할 수 없게 된다. 이런 관점에서 필자는 많은 종교교육의 접근들 가운데 기독교적 종교교육을 정치적 사회문제에 참여하기 위한 하나의 대안으로 제시한다. 그러므로 필자는 기독교적 종교교육의 이론을 소개하기에 앞서 기독교에서 말하는 정치 신학적 입장을 설명한다. 여기에서 필자는 정치신학을 개념적으로 정의하기보다는 정치와 종교간의 관계 속에서 그 성격을 규명하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 특히 정치신학의 형태를 세 가지로 구분하면서, 그 형태들이 역사적으로 한국적 상황에서 어떻게 발전되어 왔는지를 간단하게 살펴보고 있다. 즉 1)정치와 종교의 정교분리로서의 정치신학, 2) 종교가 정치에 저항함으로서 참여하는 정치신학, 그리고 마지막 3) 정치와 종교의 상호 호혜적 관계로서의 정치신학으로 구분한다. 정치신학의 성격을 살펴본 후, 필자는 정의와 평화를 실천하는 교육으로 토마스 그룸(Thomas Groome)의 기독교적 종교교육이론을 소개한다. 기독교교육에 있어서 정치적이 되어야만 하는 이유로 성서 신학적 관점에서 하나님의 형상으로 지음을 받은 인간으로부터 인간의 존엄성을, 그리고 궁극적인 기독교의 목적인 하나님의 나라의 실현으로부터 평화와 정의 실현을 위한 정치적 목적으로 동일 선상에서 살펴보았으며, 기독교는 정치적이고 교육적인 과제가 주어져 있음을 역설한다. 또한 이 정치 신학적 과제는 기독교의 독점적인 과제라기보다는 이 땅에 정의와 평화를 이루기 위해 같은 궁극적 목적을 가지고 있는 타종교와 대화와 협력을 통해 함께 풀어 나가야할 주제로 보면서 함께 프로그램을 개발하야 할 것을 결론적으로 제안한다.

The article is about a discussion on the relationship between politics and Christian religious education. This article is beginning with two basic assumptions: 1) All religions lie in political system and structure; therefore, 2) religious education should not be value-free, but political. It says that in any cases, religion cannot be separated from political situation, dealing with issues about human predicaments and rights. In this perspective, therefore, Christian religious education among the other religious educations is suggested as an alternative way to resolve them educationally. For this, the writer explains first of all what the political theology is and how the church has developed it in the Korean political situations. In particular, he shows that there has been three types of political theology and education in the Korean Church history. That is, (1) a type of separation between politic and religion, (2) of religious resistance against politic, and (3) of synergic relationship between two. Then introducing Thomas Groome s approach to Christian religious education for peace and justice, as a conclusion the writer suggests inter-religious dialogue for social commitment educationally as well as spiritually.
