원형적 관점에서 본 불교의 정치적 이상과 교육의 역할

본 연구는 두 부분으로 이루어진다. 첫째는 불교의 교육적 성격을 붓다라는 인격의 교육자적 성격과 상가공동체의 교육집단으로의 성격에 관한 것이다. 불교는 열반이라는 분명한 자체 교육목표를 제시함에 의하여 성립된 종교이다. 붓다는 인간향상에 한계를 두지 않은 인류 역사상 가장 위대한 교사이다. 둘째는 불교의 교육적 성격이 어떻게 정치사회적인 의미를 갖게 되는지를 살펴보는 것이다. 물론 이 부분에서는 불교와 정치와의 관계 그리고 불교교육을 통한 도덕적 성숙이 정치적인 측면과 어떻게 관계되는 것인지가 포함된다. 그리고 이 작업의 효율성을 위하여 필자는 택스트를 초기경전으로 제한한다.

This article consists of two parts. The first part is the character of Buddha and his sangha as a group of pedagogues. Buddhism is a religion to suggest clearly self- educational aim so called Nibbana. Assuming unlimited ability of human progress, Buddha is the greatest teacher in the history of mankind. The second part is a investigation of socio-political meaning of the educational character of Buddhism. This part contains the relations between the Buddhism and politics focused on political aspects of moral mature through the education of Buddhism. For the sake of efficiency, writer confined texts of this work in early suttas.
